Steam Train Festival at the Fly

We met up with Cat, Tim, Hannah, Mike, and Sherry out at the fly for a picnic on Sunday! Our main purpose for going was to see the Steam Train, Liam of course was a huge fan, unfortunately the pictures of him ringing the bell came out to dark.

Crawfish Galore

We ended Saturday with a crawfish boil at the Mayfair! Most of the people from the Mayfair are more like family then friends we have known them for so long! Miss Gertie the owner of the Bar just loves getting her picture taken. So Phin and I had a photo opt with her. Liam loves crawfish and usually eats several pounds. Yes usually more than I or Stephen can eat! He also had fun with the live crawfish, playing gladiator games! Well and poking at their eyeballs.

Saturday morning began at the playground we met up with Cathleen, Tim, Hannah and my friend Viviene and her to kids Jasper and Tallulah. We had snacks, tried T-ball, climbed, ran, swang, jumped, and explored bugs! Liam is really starting to become more coordinated. He is also becoming a little less cautious and a little more adventurous, especially when there are bigger kids around! We have also noticed with in the last month that Liam no longer does side by side play, but is engaging other kids, chasing them around, a favorite play activitiy is resturaunt at the park!

I really can't get to upset with liam wanting to sit in the bouncer! I know if it would hold me i would sit in it. However, we still try to discourage liam from sitting in it, being afraid that it will break,yet, he tries repeatedly to prove us wrong!

Wednesday at the square!

Every Wednesday starting after Mardi Gras the city has music in Layafette Square. We finally made one. George PorterJr. was playing. We picked up Nate and Met up with our friend Louie who was taping the show. The boys got beverages and I opted for a mango freeze! Liam had fun meeting people, smelling the flowers and dancing around the square!

Phin went for his one month check up. he is 10 pounds 9 0z and 21.75 inches. Hurray for a healthy baby. He is awake more during the day, sleeping much better at night and beginning to focus for longer periods of time.

Stephen use to cook mother's day crepes for Arlene, and has now been cooking them for me for mother's day! Liam got to help stephen mix the batter! We had crawfish and spinach in a cream sauce, and the dessert crepes were filled with fresh made whip cream topped with raspberries and blueberries!

My mom was in town for two weeks. She was a great help! This is the cake that she made for Liam's birthday! He is really into Trains or Choo choo trains as he calls them. So the cake was a huge hit. We also had some of Liam's favorite food, pizza, and of course the day wouldn't be complete without choo choo trains as a gift from us, and cutable veggies and condiments from my parents, because if Liam isn't playing with the train set he is in his kitchen or playing the tuba, trombone, trumpet,and drums! Cat, Tim, Hannah,Daryl and Julie also stopped by to partake in cake and ice cream.

Thanksmas! We had a lot of fun with my family as well over the thanksgiving break......my family has been celebrating Christmas and Thanksgiving since Stephen and I have been dating. We ate lots of really good food, played games, nintento wii, and ate more food. Leslie and I put together all the train tracks my nephew had, while Novella and Liam came behind us to tear it apart. My brothers lost a bet, they really thought the steelers were going to crush the saints, well in the end they were the ones wearing the saints jerseys. I got the snow I wanted, not to much, just enough to through snow balls! Liam had a love hate relationship with the cold! My favorite memory is Liam waking up saying, " Papa pie!"

Thanksgiving....Collins Family gathering first... We had a great time hanging out with everyone, I didn't get as many pictures as I would have like to. We got to see some of the balloons practice in a mock parade for the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade. It was so awesome! Liam loved every minute of it. We probably saw 12-15 balloons. We had a great dinner the first of three for us! After dinner Liam liked putting himself in one of moi's cabinets so we decided to get a family picture with our Houdini!

The Po-boy Festival! Again New Orleans not short on its Festivals......The ironic thing to me is that we never bought a po-boy. Obviously I can't enjoy them, but the lines were so long, and Stephen did not have the patience to stand in any of them. Liam got to try out his new pack, that was given to us by some friends of ours. It was great because he could stand up and look over Stephen's shoulders. We also saw our buddy Matt he was working at the festival, so we stopped by his booth and picked up some Gumbo and Beer. We listened and danced to music, and Liam tried to hitch a ride with the fireman!

October!

Liam had not yet been to the insectarium. The one free weekend that we had we headed downtown finding ourselves walking through the maze of insects. Liam,however,would have much rather spent his time eating the insects. He kept asking for more at the tasting. I could only eat a mealworm this time around. Stephen also tried everything!

The saints played Halloween day ( against the steelers, my home grown team) Stephen and I had tickets! All the houses in New Orleans were passing out candy on the early side. Liam was really cranky that day and managed to make it only to one house, our next door neighbors, he really wanted nothing to do with Halloween. He went from carrying his bucket to wanting to push the mower around the block.

Liam's friend Jasper had a 2 birthday party, pirate themed. Of course all the kids were cute in their pirate costumes, and the balloons were a big hit. Liam loves wagons and was swabbing the deck, mop in hand!

We had a great time at Nathan and Jessica's wedding. It was held at the Paup's Fountain in City Park, it is also right next to one of the best playgrounds in the city! When it came to walking down the isle Liam did it all day long when no one was looking. In the end I was dubbed the barrier of the ring barrier. Then off to the baby-sitter with Liam, and Stephen I headed to the Elms Mansion on St. Charles, were we ate good food, did a second line with a brass band, danced to Wolfman Washington, and then DJ after hours!

We meet up with our friend Christian and his son James for the Blues and BQ Festival....There is always a reason to celebrate in New Orleans. The great thing about this Festival was that it was less than an mile from our house, Sweet! Oh and yes the boys are making sure no one takes all the beer!

Kimmy, Wes, and Maxine came into town to go to a football game with us, It was the worst football game of the season. It was a good thing we had lots to talk about, because Stephen and I would have left in the third quarter! Liam always enjoys maxine's company, and becomes sad when she has to go back to jackson!

Our friends Adam, Alissa, Susan, and Julie all ran in a marathon a few weeks before Halloween. Stephen, Liam and I all went out to cheer them on, the only disappointment I had was the fact that we weren't in costume! Next Year......

Labor 2010, We decided this year to all go in on a condo..... The view was spectacular, we woke up with the boys to see the sunrise on the beach, swam in the pool, got in the ocean once, and change are minds do to tar. We ate, laughed, relaxed, went to the boardwalk and as usual enjoyed each others company! I must admit my favorite moments were of the three boys riding the elevator and playing together! Those in attendance this year, Sally, Jason, Jay, Moe, Janie, David, Sarah, Stephen, Nancy, Solon, Luke, Maddox, and of course MeMOMMa,

This past weekend we went to Jackson to visit our good friends Kimmy, Wes, and their daughter maxine. We had such a nice and relaxing visit, Liam and Maxine had a great time getting into trouble, and terrorizing the cat and dog. Lunch, the park, popsicles, and a John Deer play mower. I had to hide the mower as we were leaving, Wes was good enough to entertain Liam with high fives!

While Stephen was away playing with the boys in Memphis. I hung out with my little man, and we had so much fun. We had dinner with my friend Maggie, Cat, and Hannah, played in the finger paints, hung out at the children's museum, went to Satchmo Fest and played on the playground. Oh, and let's not forget terrorized Mr. Cat!

As most of you are aware Stephen and I do not have much of a backyard. So we set out to make the back of the house feel a little more functional. I wish I would have taken before pictures, because it has come a long, long way! A week with Grandma Collins, Aunts, Uncle and Cousins............We had lots of fun, we went swimming, barbecued, hung out at the Stamford Nature Center, where Liam went down a slide all by himself, for the first time, yet preferred to climb up it the wrong way. He also spent time screaming at all the animals, chasing the ducks, and he petted the friendliest horse. We also went hiking at Sleeping Giant State Park, those pictures are coming next........

To end our trip with my family we went to Duman Lake and Park. Liam got to spend time with all his Great Aunts and Uncles, and lots of Cousins. We went on a train ride and a hay ride, played kick ball, ate good food, and filled a baby pool with dirt! The top picture is a four generation picture! This is Lake Cowanesque, we spent all day swimming and hanging out on the "beach" , and of course eating! My dad slaved over hot coals while we all played in the water, sand/silt, and on the play ground. Liam loved getting dirty!

Everywhere we would go Liam wanted to be pushed in this car! Down the hill, across the field, and down the road to see the cows. At one point I was chasing the other kids around the house, on their bikes, while pushing Liam in the car! It was quite the seen to behold!

The hajzus house adventure

My family owns a lot of land out in the country, and my aunt lives next door. My dad mowed paths through the fields to join the two properties together. There was a lot of running back and forth, picking wild flowers, looking for bugs, seeing wild turkeys and baby turkeys, and enjoying the great outdoors! It was really nice and relaxing visiting my family! The picture above is of liam with his cousin's sitting on their greatgrandfathers tractor!

The fourth of July weekend was awesome! Sally and Jason are the best host, we spent a lot of time in the back yard. We sat under a tent to keep out of the sun, and the boys played in the water most of the time. My camera battery unfortunately died while we were there, and the only pictures i have are from that saturday. However, there was lots of fun to be had. we went to the park, Barbecued in the front, sparklers, went to the board walk, and most importantly laughed a lot! The gang this year included, Jay, Moe, Solon, Janie, David, Sarah, Sally, Jason, Luke, Nancy, Stephen,, Maddox, and Peggy, aka MOMMA!

Memorial Day weekend was soooooooo much fun! Lots happened, there was Liam's first slide, Thomas the train, Luke's Lagoon, the boardwalk, grilling, fake teeth, Congratulating Lyle for a job well down, lots of thumbs up, and a way to go! Liam loved the beach and water. He especially loved eating the sand! Most importantly we were surrounded by our favorite people! At the end of the weekend we rounded up the boys to get a picture of them, and all I can say is at least we tried!

Adam and Alissa are two really good friends of ours that live here in the Big Easy! Adam use to play Water Polo with Stephen, while Alissa and I share a love for wigs and dancing! She recently finished up her doctorate in Choral Directing, so they threw her a party. It was come as your favorite singer. Stephen and I thought it would be funny to go as Milli Vanilli. Liam went as Justin Bieber . When it came time to perform our dance the Cd player didn't work! Stephen was completely heart broken over the missed opportunity to show off is new moves!

The Rabinowitz clan came to visit us in mid may, and it rained the whole time they were here.We did a lot of indoor activities, however we did manage to get out for avocado popsicles and coffee. Both times returning home we managed to get caught in the rain. On the next post I promised sally that I would have pictures of our street flooding from all the rain. We had to pull our cars into a neighbors drive way. Stephen even saw a snake swimming down the street! It was lots of fun having them in for the weekend,but we always love their company!

Starting in September Liam has now flown 10 times, that includes going to and from! There was only one time that people offered up advice and prayers, all others Liam was making friends with everyone on the plane!

A Formal Affair!

Stephen, Liam and I headed up north for a Wedding. We stopped in to visit his cousins Aunts, Uncle,and Grandma on the collins side of the family. Everyone loved seeing Liam! We then headed to Rhode Island for a rehearsal dinner Friday night and the wedding Saturday! Our bed and breakfast was beautiful, the hospitality not so much! Newport is absolutely breathtaking this time of year. I wish I had more great pictures to show.However, nothing I took really captures what we saw, so you will just have to take my word for it! We had Liam dressed up pretty much all weekend. The Penguin costume was not favorable with Liam, but we were able to get some great pics of us all dressed up! Then the costume had to come off, stephen kept the spirit alive while I attended to Liam. I did have the Paul Frank jacket which I knew Janie would especially appreciate!

Anyone who knows me, knows that keeping a surprise is really hard to do! So, trying to plan a surprise party for Stephen a month in advance was tough! Somehow we pulled it off, and I say we, because there were others involved that really helped to bring it all together! I don't have very many photos from this evening, but the day was gorgeous, lots of people turned out, and there were others that couldn't be there that were greatly missed! The day ended with the most beautiful sunset.

Susan and Beau got married at a chapel over looking the smokey mountains, it was absolutely breath taking! The reception was fun! They had a band and photo booth,and of course we took full advantage of it! I also posted some pictures on Facebook and cat has some good pics of all of us on there as well!

Our next door neighbor Joe use to be a chef at the Biltmore. He was able to get his friend mark to comp us some tickets for lunch and a tour of the house. My camera really did the house injustice. With so little time I was only able to get a few pictures!

Liam is now 4 months....he has been in love with his hands for a while,and has now taking a liking to his feet! It makes changing diapers interesting!

August is usually our hottest time of the year, so when cooler weather comes calling we answer! Stephen and I called on our friends to come hang out with us at the fly,however,due to late night activities most of our friends stayed home! We stopped by whole foods picked up some BQ,salad,and drinks then headed out to the park. It was such a nice day we expected there to be lots of people,but for a while it was just Stephen,Liam, I, and a couple other families. We found some shade got comfortable,later Nathan and Jessica arrived, and soon after them came a guy playing a guitar and of some of his friends, the park was starting to become alive. It was so relaxing and peaceful. Liam was also excited, and loved showing off to Nathan and Jessica all of his new tricks!

Charlie, Vanessa, and Alex all came to visit for the weekend, unfortunately I was ill most of the day Saturday, so there was not a lot of venturing away from the house. We made the most of it and kept it pretty low key, I miss them already!

It is sad to say,but Liam has out grown his bouncer seat! He is just to big for it these days. He also prefers to be sitting up, and checking out whats going on. He also has an infinity with his hands, though we have been trying to encourage other toys! Charlie and Vanessa got Liam the Jamaica T-shirt from there trip,but as you can see Liam's already busting at the seams!

Liam loves to roll around. I put him on his back, and the next thing you know he is on his stomach. It is short lived do to his frustration of not going anywhere! So I put him back on his back and the game continues!

Liam's starting to smile, tummy time, kimmy and wes,celebrating memorial day,Lyle in town for the summer,'Fourth of july in Florida, and girls weekend with our little men,a new ride, first time at the beach, just a bunch of really good times. There is definitely a lot more that took place, unfortunately I have been bad at taking pictures, however, I am getting better! Thank you Solon for teaching Luke and Liam how to stick out their tongues

Hurray, I am now 1 month old!

My parents were a really big help, they made us dinner, cleaned the house, did our laundry, and allowed us time to go listen to Beethoven in blue jeans the 9th symphony ! Which was our first outing together since having Liam.

I unfortunately did not get very good pictures of his first bath, but you get the general idea. Liam actually enjoyed getting a bath, and his hair was curly when wet!

These two pictures are of Liams' first outing we all went to Audubon Park. It was really hot and humid so we did not stay outside for very long. ( the second picture some how got deleted)

There are only a few things/people that get Stephen on his feet dancing, well his son is one of those people!

This is another one of Liams' favorite poses. I often wonder what he could be thinking so seriously about at such a young age.

Happy Mothers' Day!
It has been 12 years since I last celebrated mothers day with my mom, so this was a real treat. Friends of ours Adam and Alissa bought Liam a photo session, which took up a good portion of the morning, but it was really fun! The rest of the afternoon was spent eating lots of good food and spending quality time with my mom.

We have begun to teach him how to meditate at such a young age.

Liam loves to make this face, but this is because he is a very gassy boy! It has taken us some some time to get it under control, but all systems seem to be working better. I have
had to eliminate some foods from my diet, Liam seems happier

Arelene was such a big help! This week was probably the toughest, with having to really allow myself to sit still, sleep, and heal! We also were still in the processes of figuring out Liams' schedule,and what all his fussing was about! She help get me breakfast and lunch. Her and Stephen put together dinner. She cleaned, did laundry, and offered up a lot of support.

Please be patient with me has I have a lot of catching up to do. Hopefully this will give my out of town friends and family an idea of what has been happening over the last three weeks!
The first week home was spent sitting around, sleeping when at all possible, changing dirty diapers, and learning our son's ways of communicating! Fortunately we received a lot of help from Stephens' mom the first week and my parents the last two weeks! These are the photos from those weeks...
